Leaps in the Dark: Art and the World, by Agnes de Mille (ed.)

Tony Award-winning choreographer Agnes de Mille ("Oklahoma!," "Brigadoon," "One Touch of Venus," "Rodeo," "Fall River Legend") was also an author of some dozen books of memoirs and word-portraits of her colleagues, friends, and family in dance, the theater, and the movies. Her first two memoirs--"Dance to the Piper," "And Promenade Home"--made the arts of dancing and choreography magical for several generations of readers. In 2010, when all of her books, save her biography of her friend Martha Graham, are out of print, this collection restores glimpses of de Mille's vivid and authoritative writing for a new generation, as well as for those whose love of the theater life she so strongly helped to nourish.
